As of early summer 2001 a special treat has become a reality: within a few walking minutes from Castle Rubein the new botanical garden of Castle Trautmansdorf has been opened. It used to be the summer retreat of empress Sissi of Habsburg. You can stroll for about 7 km through the interesting botanic world which encompasses practically all climate zones. There is plenty of culture and art in Meran. One of the most beautiful liberty style buildings in the Alpine region is the Kurhaus and the city theater, which offer year round an interesting program of plays, concerts, seminars and a variety of art shows.
